Basketball is one of the world's most fast-paced
sports, featuring elite athletes showcasing
great speed, agility and power. We were
treated to many spectacular plays during the postseason, from Roy
Hibbert's blocked shot against Carmelo Anthony
to LeBron James' block against Tiago Splitter to
the last second shot heroics of Tony Parker and
Ray Allen in the 2013 Finals. This action and
drama truly makes the NBA "must see TV." The 2012-2013 season has
just finished and many people are already
starting to think about who will be the favorite to win the 2014
championship.
The Miami Heat are trying to defy the odds and
accomplish the rare "three-peat," something that
has only been achieved by legendary teams: the
Mikan Lakers, the Russell Celtics, the
Jordan-Pippen Bulls and the O’Neal-Bryant
Lakers. They will be challenged in the East by
the young and tough Indiana Pacers (16/1) and the
Chicago Bulls (15/2), while the West has
several potential
championship-caliber teams, including the San
Antonio Spurs (17/2) and the Oklahoma City Thunder (11/2). The
Memphis Grizzlies (20/1) figure to take a step backward
after foolishly getting rid of Coach Lionel
Hollins, while the L.A. Clippers (18/1) hope that the
addition of Coach Rivers will improve their
sporadic defense. Despite the competition it
would be hard to bet against the Heat again next
season.
It won't be an easy task for Miami to win it again. But they're in the driver seat to do so. It'll be interesting to see what off season moves they make. Because I think they potentially can lose key guys. Allen, Battier, to retirement. Maybe. If they hapoens then they need to work on their depth.
ReplyDeleteChicago will have Rose back and Indiana will still be challenging.
As for the Spurs. Duncan needs to continue to Play at a high enough level like he did this past year. For a 37 year old post player he did well. Performed at an all star level.
