Edgar Allan Poe once declared, "The most 'popular,' the most 'successful' writers among us (for a brief period, at least) are, 99 times out of a hundred, persons of mere effrontery--in a word, busy-bodies, toadies, quacks." Sadly, little has changed about the writing business in the 150-plus years since Poe offered that heartfelt lamentation. This site is for people who appreciate that writing is a craft. I have had many articles published by "mainstream" outlets but it is important to understand that true success for a writer is determined not by where your byline appears but rather by the quality of the writing that appears underneath your byline.
